SKF visit to SR2000 in Belfast

SKF Ocean Energy team were in Harland and Wolff recently to inspect the final commissioning phase of Scotrenewables SR2000 floating tidal turbine before launch in March. SKF have been working with the engineering team at SRTP to supply a number of key components and systems for  the turbine as well as providing engineering services, the scope includes:  bearing and seal solutions, a turret slew bearing, automatic lubrication systems and condition monitoring system. Orkney based Scotrenewables Tidal Power Ltd (SRTP) is pleased to announce it has been successful in securing a further £5.7m from investors to allow it to demonstrate the world’s largest tidal turbine. The company, which is at the forefront of the floating tidal turbine sector, is currently nearing the completion of the build of its SR2000 (2MW) system in the Harland & Wolff shipyard in Belfast; the first large scale machine the company has built.
