SRTP Complete 4 Day Deployment - May 2012

Continuing on from the successful grid connection last month, Scotrenewables Tidal Power Ltd. has forged ahead with their testing plan and have just completed a 4 day deployment of the SR250. Using the locally owned multi-cat 'MV Orcadia', the device was towed to site on Thursday morning and connected to their mooring at The Fall Of Warness. SR250 Successfully Exports Power to the UK National Grid - April 2012

In the latest of a series of onsite tests at EMEC Stromness based Scotrenewables Tidal Power Limited has successfully generated and exported power into the UK national grid for the first time. On the 18th of April the SR250 full-scale prototype was towed to EMEC Fall of Warness tidal test site and connected to it’s mooring system and electrical cable at slack tide ready for generation. SR250 Lift-in Completed in Advance of Further Testing - March 2012

On March 29th 2012 the SR250 prototype was lifted from it's stands on Hatston Pier back into the water. The lift-in followed a thorough inspection of the turbine by SRTP engineers. The model has now been given the 'all clear' in advance of an intensive period of testing at EMEC during Spring and Summer 2012.  This phase of testing has already begun with SRTP successfully completing a 30 hour onsite fully grid-connected test on the 2nd and 3rd of April. ...

SR250 Lifted Harbourside for Annual Maintenance - February 2012

On Friday 24th Feb, the SR250 was carefully lifted out of the water onto stands at Hatston Pier to undergo annual maintenance. SRTP staff will hold an open day for members of the public and schools who may be interested in learning more about the device and the work of the company. The SR250 will remain out of the water for 3-4 weeks before testing continues. The team will focus on grid connection tests and longer term deployments for the remainder of 2012. ...
